Type Locality and Naming

Includes in Dushanbe-west Shirkent-Luchob, east Shirkent-Luchob. It was distinguished in 1963 by V.A. Tarasov, poorly studied.

Synonym: Safetdarak suite

Lithology and Thickness

Composed of variegated dacites, liparites, trachydacites, quartz latites, rhyolites, sandstones, and conglomerates. Incomplete thickness is 500 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Contacts with older rocks are tectonic.

Upper contact

It is overlain with an angular unconformity by the volcanics of the lower Permian? Luchob Fm (лучобской свиты).

Regional extent

It is distributed in the South Gissar region. It represents a volcanic facies of the hypabyssal intrusions of the Diamalik Gr.

Organic remains have not been found in it.


Age 

It represents a volcanic facies of the hypabyssal intrusions of the Diamalik complex, the age of which is considered to be late Carboniferous. On this basis, and by its position in the section, the age of the suite is conditionally determined as late Carboniferous.
